THE POWER OF HUMILITY
Sunday Service: Pastor Danette Ray “The Power of the Holy Spirit Series: The Power of Humility”
Scriptures: Philippians 2-11 AMP; 1 Peter 5:2-5 AMP
The purpose of the Holy Spirit is to teach us, help develop us, and guide us to living in the virtues of God.
Love is an active principle, and the fruit of the spirit are virtues that come from operating in this active principle.
We have to dress ourselves in humility as the garb of a servant so that it’s covering can not be stripped from you.
We are not no better than the next person.
God gives grace, favor, and blessings to the humble.
Demote and humble yourself in your own estimation because what you think you are, you aren’t.
When you do not allow God to be in control, that is your pride.
In order for God to do anything in our lives, we have to let him lead it.
Pride is the sin that no one wants to talk about because in the world, pride is a norm.
As a believer, shame is the way I shine!
Adam was created with humility, him being created reveal Gods glory. His creation communication Gods glory and goodness because he allowed them to be capable of receiving it.
We don’t possess the character of humility, because we are not spending time with God.
Adam had to meet God regularly in order to possess this characteristic of God.
This characteristic would create absolute dependency on God.
Outside of complete dependency on God, you are operating in pride.
Your entire being have to depend on God for things and offenses not to mean NOTHING!
It’s our first duty in the highest virtue of all mankind (Humility).
When you are still full of self, there is no room for the Holy Spirit.
Pride is the loss of humility, and the root of every sin and every evil.
When the serpent breathed the poison of his pride into Eve she let that out into Adam. That was SATANS desire.
WE are supposed to have Gods desire.
This pride created sin!
Pride and self exaltation is the portal to HELL.
Humility does not come of itself it must be a special desire that comes from a life of prayer and devotion.
Matthew 5:5
Humility brought Jesus here. He didn’t have to come here. His humility gave his death value, because if he was forced to do it, he would be doing it with a motive, and that has no value.
This become our redemption. Sin separated us and humility restored us, we are now seated with Christ (Eph 2:6)
Humility is a key to prosperity and blessings. It is difficult, but humility is the oil.
Before honor, there is humility.
Two types of humility: Circumstantial: Afflictions causes it. Then there is a humility where we give total dependence upon God.
