SERVANTHOOD
Sunday Service: Pastor Danette Ray “The Power of the Holy Spirit Series: Servanthood”
Scriptures: Matthew 11:28-29 REMEDY VERSION; Psalms 55:24
This portion of scripture is Jesus speaking to his disciples. He is now in a place where he is preparing to die. He must train the men of God to carry on what he began. He’s calling them to step out of the lifestyle that they are living in. Jesus is calling them out of the yoke of sin and into his yoke.
Jesus have a remedy for the fear, it is the blood that he gave on the cross.
Jesus unselfishly gave his life for whatever sin you are in! He is the remedy for the sin you are in.
God is calling us to join him in now getting other people saved.
Servanthood is not about a title. But we are called to Servanthood so that we can wait on other people.
You don’t just say you’re a Christian, you be one!
You can’t stay the same.
Christians are called to adopt a servants heart. Greatness is measured by how much you give of yourself to others!
This is what measures if we are walking right in the kingdom.
Servanthood is to WILLING serve others.
When you are a servant you prioritize other people’s needs before your own.
We have a humble and gentle God! He is not pimping us, we are pimping him. All we do is go to God to ask for things
When you become a servant, God begins to use you.
To be a servant is to be humble and selfless.
You can’t think the way you used to think and still think like Christ.
Servanthood is characterized by empathy.
We have to also prioritize others, obedience, and loyalty.
We have to get to the place where God has our heart.
To be yoked to Christ is to be subjected to the mindset of Christ (Philip 2)
Why must we be yoked? It opposed our corrupt nature, it opposes the ways of the world. It is republic to the schemes of men.
When God says to take his yoke, he is yoked with you! That’s why it is a lighter yoke because he is connected to the same yoke so you will go in the same direction!
There is no forced barring of yokes, you gotta want this!
I gotta remember that the yoke is laced with grace!!!
You will never be happy living in pride. Humility is the correction for pride.
When a man is already heavy burdened and weak, he is asking us to take on a new weight.
He will take a weight and give you another weight so you can find ease and rest. How will that give me rest?!
But he is asking for what is wearing you out and I’ll give you the weight of my glory.
